The NCHSAA released its final football playoff brackets this afternoon.

4-AA playoffs

Fuquay-Varina, with an adjusted 8-2 overall record (one nonconference loss is dropped after a team plays an endowment game to help seed the playoffs. If there is not a nonconference loss, a win is dropped), is the 5th seed in the 4-AA playoffs and will host No. 13 Millbrook.

Panther Creek is the 14th seed in the 4-AA playoffs and will have to go to Fayetteville to play Jack Britt (last year's runner-up in the 4-AA championship game). The Catamounts' adjusted record is 5-5.

Cary, by virtue of a head-to-head loss to P.C., finished a spot below as the 15th seed. The Imps, with an adjusted record of 5-5, will have to travel to Wilmington Hoggard (7-3) in the first round.

4-A playoffs

Middle Creek, with a perfect adjusted record of 10-0, is the 3-seed in the 4-A playoffs. The Tri-Nine champs' first-round opponent is 5-5 New Bern, the 14th seed.

Athens Drive appears locked in for the No. 8 seed. The Jags (8-2) will play host to projected No. 9 Person County (6-4).

Holly Springs (7-3) is the 12th seed, although they tied for second in the conference with Athens and Fuquay. A three-way draw was used to determine where the three fell as far as playoff seeding, and the Hawks took fourth behind Athens (third) and Fuquay (second). The Golden Hawks will be on the road in the first round, and will make the long trip to New Hanover (8-2).
