Katherine Perry, a rising senior at Athens Drive, had already led her team to a state title and been named to first team all-state this year before her biggest accomplishment yet.

Perry won the U.S. Women's Open Sectional qualifier at Carolina Trace Country Club in Sanford on Thursday, earning a spot in this year's women's U.S. Open.

Perry won the qualifier with a 3-under score after firing rounds of 70 and 71 on the par 72 course.

The U.S. Open will be held from July 6-12 at the Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Penn.
