The second Kick it for Cancer Preseason Jamboree is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Panther Creek High School.

Last year’s inaugural event raised $10,000, which was split between the American Cancer Society and Panther Creek athletics. This year, the field will be expanded from six teams to 12, and the V Foundation for Cancer Research will be the beneficiary. Admission is $5.

Todd Schuler, Panther Creek’s head coach and athletic director, has assembled a strong field, which includes nine playoff teams from 2007. Teams have been divided into three four-team groups, and each team will play each group member in a 40-minute game.

On Saturday, there will also be a soccer clinic that is open to players 14 and under. To make a donation or for additional information, contact Schuler at tschuler@wcpss.net or 463-8662.

Pairings and schedule are as follows:

Group 1
Broughton (28-0-1 in 2007, won second straight NCHSAA 4-A state championship), Durham Jordan (17-3-4, reached the second round of the 4-A playoffs), Southern Pines Pinecrest (17-3-2, reach first round of the 4-A playoffs), Panther Creek (9-16-0, reach third round of the 4-A playoffs).
