The Middle Creek Lady Mustangs Varsity Cheerleading squad once again proved why they are one of the best squads in the Wake County Saturday at the 2009 Wake County Cheerleading Championships held at Knightdale High School.

Middle Creek claimed not only claimed top honors in the small varsity division but also were named Grand Champion of the Wake County competition.

The Tri-Eight conference swept the awards for the small varsity division as the Mustangs took top honors with Panther Creek coming in second and Cary finishing in third. Middle Creek also was award the best dance trophy for both the junior varsity and varsity divisions. Leesville Road, East Wake and Southeast Raleigh were the other three squads in the division.

The Raleigh area schools went home with the top three awards in the large varsity division as the Sanderson Spartans took top honors over Millbrook Wildcats (2nd), Wakefield (3rd) and host school Knightdale came in 4th. Apex and Fuquay-Varina were the other two squads in the division.

In the junior varsity portion of the competition, Fuquay-Varina took top honors over Apex, Garner and Green Hope in the small division. In the large division, it was another Raleigh sweep as Wakefield (1st), Sanderson (2nd) and Millbrook (3rd) went home with the trophies.
