The Panther Creek volleyball team wrapped up the regular season with a third-place finish in the Tri-Nine Conference on Tuesday after taking down Cary in three games.
Both teams entered the match with matching conference records of 10-5. The Lady Catamounts, which had only won one conference match before this year, won in thrilling fashion: 25-23, 28-26, 25-17. Cary led late in each of the first two games, including 24-22 in the second.
The win means Panther Creek will be at home on Saturday in the first round of the NCHSAA playoffs, in which they'll likely face Northern Durham — the three-seed from the PAC-Six Conference.
Cary will hit the road to face Enloe, the second seed from the CAP-7 Conference.
