Katherine Perry, Cary native and rising senior at Athens Drive, finished play at this year’s Women’s U.S. Open on July 10 in Bethlehem, Pa. The Bobby Murray Baseball Invitational this past weekend saw two local teams going in opposite directions. Athens Drive, previously 7-2, goes 0-for-3 in the tournament to finish eighth. Cary, on the other hand, turned around its season and finished third in the event held at the USA Baseball Complex.

Athens Drive senior Josh Davis led the charge on Friday as his team walloped Green Hope 65-47. Both teams got good news afterwards, as the Jags picked up a tiebreaker for the second seed in the conference tournament and the Falcons clinched the fifth-and-final playoff spot with Lee County losing to Apex.
