PINEHURST — Ties for the lead were the order of the day on Monday after the opening round of the NCHSAA 4-A Women's Golf Championships at Pinehurst No. 5.

Three golfers shared the individual lead entering Tuesday's final day of the 36-hole event while Charlotte Myers Park High and Asheville Reynolds High are knotted in the team standings.

Julia Strandberg, a junior at Greensboro Page High, along with Green Hope High senior Colleen Estes and Charlotte Myers Park High junior Virginia Mayer all shot even-par 72. Stephanie Wagstaff of Asheville Reynolds is alone in fourth at 74.

Defending individual champion Julia Saleeby of Broughton High is in a four-way tie for eighth with a 79. Trailing the co-leaders in the team standings is Greensboro Page at 164, seven shots back, while Gastonia Ashbrook High is at 165. Green Hope is tied for ninth at 168, while Athens Drive High is 14th at 177.
