Green Hope was faced with a superior foe in Durham Jordan on Friday night, Aug. 29, at Green Hope High School in Cary.

Jordan went up 28-7 in the first half and came back in the second half with 17 additional points. Green Hope never gave up though. Behind 45-7 in the fourth quarter, they scored 7 points when quarterback Kameron Bryant made a 29-yard touchdown pass to Matt Burke. That made the final 45-14.

“We got beat by a really good football team,” Green Hope’s head coach Steve Katz said. “They had some very good athletes. We knew that we were outmatched but we thought that we could answer their scores but we made too many turnovers. I was proud of the way we moved the ball on them at the end of the first half. But we had two opportunities to score and turned the ball over.”

Katz added, “We have a long way to go to get back to respectability, but we are playing good people and that is what I just told my guys is that we get better by playing good teams.”
