The Athens Drive and Apex girls' basketball teams both won their second round playoff games Wednesday night.

Athens Drive was a 59-55 winner over Hoke County. Tyonna Willingham scored 21 points and Keisha Gatling had 18.

The Jaguars (23-5) will meet Wilmington Laney (21-6) Friday at 7 p.m. in the sectional final in Raleigh. It will be a rematch of last year’s regional semifinal in Greenville, which Laney won 50-45.

Apex knocked off reigning 4-A state champion Hope Mills South View 57-51 Wednesday. Apex senior Kim Durham scored a game-high 24 points to lead the upset of the Tigers (25-2).

The Cougars (21-8) will travel to north Raleigh Friday to face Millbrook (25-4) in the sectional final.
