Middle Creek will live to play another day after holding off Southern Lee and their outstanding scorer Akeem Richmond on Tuesday. Richmond had a game-high 29 points but the Mustangs took the game by the 73-65 score at the GlaxoSmithKline Holiday Invitational at Broughton High's Holliday Gym.

After dismal performances from both Tom Tankelewicz and Garrius Adams on Saturday, the pair teamed up for 20 and 19 points respectively. Southern Lee has now been eliminated from the tournament, meaning no more games for Richmond, although he averaged 30 points per game in two games.

The Mustangs will live to play another day at the GSK, and will take on Rocky Mount for the fifth-place game in the Shavlik Randolph Foundation bracket on Tuesday at 12:40 p.m.

Make sure to get your ticket early, as Word of God (aka the best show on the hardwood) draws large crowds and will be competing either at 9 or 5:40 that night.
