In appreciation of the community’s support over the years, The Cary High School Band Boosters are proud to present the jazz ensemble, symphonic and concert bands in its third annual Spring Pops Community Appreciation Concert Sunday, May 11, at 4 p.m. at Booth Amphitheatre at Regency Park.

Gates open at 3.

Matthew Minick has been the director of bands at Cary High School since 2000. Under his leadership, new programs have been established and student participation has grown in a continued effort to maintain the school’s tradition of excellence. The marching band has continued to excel in its class, winning numerous Grand Champion Awards including the coveted Capital City Cup in 2006.

The jazz ensemble studies and performs various forms of popular music and the styles that are associated with jazz, rock and Latin music.

Improvisation is an integral part of this ensemble.

The symphonic band encompasses the advanced performers of the band; they represent the school at performances locally and on the national level and have also performed at the Lincoln Center in New York City. It also provides the woodwind and brass voices for the music department orchestra.

The concert band is open to all students with emphasis and its programs include a variety of performances at a level suited to the talents of its members.

The concert will be held rain or shine. In the event of rain, the concert will be moved to Cary High School Auditorium, corner of Walnut Street and Maynard Road.

Chairs, blankets, and umbrellas are welcome. Food and beverages are allowed for this event. Cameras are also permitted.
