ATHENS DRIVE HIGH• Alec Sturgis and Devin Romney earned seats in the prestigious N.C. State Honors Chorus. More than 1200 students auditioned. Only 175 were chosen.
• The symphonic band has been accepted to perform for the 2010 Music for All/Bands of America National Concert Band Festival in Indianapolis in March. ADHS is one of 16 high school bands nationwide invited to participate. Tax deductible donations can be made to ADHS Arts Foundation to help with the cost of the trip.

CARY ACADEMY• Eight students were selected for the N.C. Middle School Honors Chorus: Lauren Knott, Ivana Premasinghe, Raven Watson, Kaavya Ashok, Morgan Goetz, Lia Follet, Aileen Daly and Ben Hatfield. The chorus will perform at the North Carolina Music Educators Conference Nov. 8 at the Stephens Center in Winston-Salem.
• Language arts instructor Meredith Stewart had an article, "Chatting About Poetry: Using Chat Rooms as a Tool for Classroom Discussion," published in the September issue of "California English."
GRACE CHRISTIAN• Grace Christian School's 10th grade class served at the House of Hope in Clayton on Oct. 7. Students helped prepare for new residents by painting, cleaning and landscaping the alpha house.
