OLIVE CHAPEL ELEMENTARY Fourth grade parent Dina Fiorentino is working on publishing a collection of short stories from the Mayan Indians in celebration of her children's heritage.
She wanted to involve other children in this project, so she and co-author Joanne Stecker-Butzier asked Mrs. Donaldson's fourth grade class to illustrate the book.
With Indian flute music in the background, students took several days to read, brainstorm, draw and color the illustrations.
Later this school year, the book will be completed and available for purchase.
Fiorentino plans to present a copy of the book to the Olive Chapel Elementary School Media Center.
That copy will be autographed by student illustrators, in honor of the project.
