A.P.P.L.E.Seeds Preschool is now offering a 5 year-old transitional program as part of its preschool education. The class is designed to meet the needs of those students who currently are not eligible to begin kindergarten this fall due to the earlier cut off date of August 31. The school will also be accepting students who will be eligible to begin kindergarten in the fall, but may not be developmentally ready to go to kindergarten quite yet. These students will need to be turning 5 years old between the dates of June 1 and Nov. 30, 2009. Only 12 slots will be available. The school announced that 1st IMPressions Camp for rising ninth graders will be held on August 12. There will also be sessions for parents running concurrently with your child’s session. Students whose last names begin with A-L will meet in morning sessions from 8:30-11:30 a.m. with registration beginning at 8. Students with last names beginning with M-Z, and all band members and football players, will meet in sessions from 12:30-3:30 p.m.

The Goddard School in Apex hosted pre-kindergarten graduation ceremonies at The Halle Cultural Center. Thirty-eight pre-kindergarten students participated in a cap and gown ceremony. This class of students is eligible for the Anthony A. Martino Memorial Scholarship named for the late founder of The Goddard School. The $10,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a graduate of the Goddard School who demonstrates the work ethic and perseverance that exemplified Martino’s commitment to his career, family and community. Falcon Freshmen Orientation will take place Tuesday, August 4 and Tuesday, August 11 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Students will start in the auditorium and rotate through five informational sessions.
