Second graders and fourth graders wrapped up the school year with an all-day “Read-In” on June 1. The second grade continued with their Accelerated Reader (AR) Celebration the next day. AR was rolled-out this year and is a computer-based reading management and motivational system designed to complement existing Language Arts curriculum. Second grade teacher Mrs. Tammy Krear summed it up best when she said that she likes AR because, “It gets them excited about reading for pleasure.” The students are looking forward to a summer of reading before AR is introduced to grades K-8 next year.
