Athens Drive High School
• To all rising ninth-graders who will be attending ADHS: Registration is now open for Freshmen Camp in August. Visit the ADHS Web site to register.

Cary Academy
• Mariah Bishop (’14) took second place in the second annual “Give the Gift of Music” orchestra contest, sponsored by Music & Arts/Eastman Strings Instruments. As a prize, Eastman will donate two violins, a viola, a cello and a string bass to CA.
• This year’s recipients of the Chuck Burdick Young Writers’ Fellowship are Valerie Saunders-Duncan (’12) and Ted Waechter (’14).
• Michelle Wang (’10) is among six Wake County high school students earning recognition as exceptional writers in the annual writing contest sponsored by the Phi Beta Kappa Association of Wake County. She took first place in the junior division for “When Sin Becomes God...” • At the recent Highland Games Scottish Festival, Oliver Eisenbeis (’14) placed second in the Junior Division (Scottish Fiddler/under 18 years old) in the Fiddle Competition. This was a national competition.
• Cary Academy achieved maximum representation in the International Chemistry Olympiad competition for the state of North Carolina. Therice Morris (’09) and Sam Rochelle (’10) will be representing Cary Academy as well as the state. On April 24, the duo took the national exam at the N.C. School of Science & Math for the right to attend a summer camp at the Air Force Academy in Colorado.
• The math team finished in fourth place in the national Mathematics League Contest, sponsored by Math League Press. Two members of the team tied for third place individually in the country. The CA team’s top individuals (cumulative scores for all six rounds) are:
Jason Chow (’10) and Allen Yang (’12), who both tied for third place in the country; Evan Zayas (’11), who tied for 17th place in the country and Jeffrey Dudek (’11), who tied for 22nd place in the country.
Students who participated in four or more of the six rounds are: Kara Goray (’10), Tyler Hartsfield (’09), Therice Morris (’09), Cat Newman (’12), Sam Rochelle (’10), Miriam Rosen (’10), Michelle Wang (’11) and Evan Zayas (’10).

Davis Drive Elementary
“Laps of Love,” a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, will take place on April 30. Students and staff will walk from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and donate money made by selling bracelets, popcorn, lemonade and cookies that were donated to the event by parents and staff members.

Lufkin Road Middle
On Saturday, April 18, National Junior Honor Society students resumed the school tradition of donating hours of community service to the beautification of Apex Community Park. Eighth grader Sara Rivera NJHS vice president, together with seventh graders Katie Lee, Alayna Watson and Jeremy Keyes, were among the first students this spring to donate their time and muscle power to spread crushed cement on a trail.

Panther Creek Elementary
Football Information Meeting for rising freshman will be Tuesday, May 19 at 7 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Incoming freshmen and their parents are invited to meet with Coach Bragg to hear about summer workouts and mini-camps, register to receive e-mails and tour the football facilities. A few current players and team parents will also be on hand to help answer your questions.

Resurrection Lutheran
The public is invited to Resurrection Lutheran School’s first annual science fair on Tuesday, May 5 from 6:30-8 p.m. Students in grades K-7 are participating in the event to gain an understanding of the scientific method through a hands-on approach. A panel of guest judges will award prizes. The science fair will also feature activities for kids, adult-led demonstrations, refreshments and door prizes. The event will be held in the gym of the new RLS building at 100 Lochmere Drive West in Cary.

St. Michael School
St. Michael School is proud to have our fifth graders serve as responsible Safety Patrols to ensure that all car doors are carefully opened and closed, both in the morning and afternoon carpool, for safety. Each one of them smiles and also wishes parents and students a great day and do such a wonderful job with this ongoing service project.
