Frantz colors show over signI was horrified to read Don Frantz' thoughts about David Bowden's battle with the town of Cary ["Sign blasting Cary to stay," Aug. 12].
For a man whose priorities include 'maintaining Cary's small-town charm,' and 'working for and respecting the citizens [he] serves' (see his town of Cary profile), Mr. Frantz seemed to neither care about small-town charm, nor entertain an ounce of respect for David Bowden, a citizen like any other.
His blog oozed arrogance and condescension toward Mr. Bowden. Frantz employs childish rhetoric and over-hyped facts about Bowden's retirement plans to characterize Bowden as some idiotic money-grabbing con man, while portraying himself as sympathetic, yet committed to the greater good.
Regardless of Bowden's intentions, the responsibilities of the representatives of our town of Cary do not include speculation over the use that Bowden will make of any retribution paid to him.
Charlotte Morgan CaryForgive, forget cashThe battle between the town of Cary and Mr. David Bowden ["Sign blasting Cary to stay," Aug. 12] reminds me of the squabbles my children had as they were growing up. Forgiveness was not to be considered at all costs. The issue is not about the condition of Mr. Bowden's home or drainage in the past, nor is it about "an additional $80,000 for aggravation for being ignored, placated, and offered fixes considered useless."
It is about doing the right thing.
The town is very keen on assuring any major construction --especially by Private Industry --must not create a drainage problem for surrounding properties. If drainage correction for these embankments is needed, do so. As for Mr. Bowden, do learn to forgive and forget the $80,000.
