Miss Mary Hunter Schaub, 66, was welcomed into her heavenly home as morning broke on Friday, Sept. 25.

A lifetime resident of Apex and a descendant of one of Apexs founding families and town fathers. She carried forth the strong character of her ancestors, promoting preservation of her family heritage and that of her hometown. Schaub is a widely recognized author, having published 2 books and was in the process of writing a third.

She is survived by her sister, Sandra Nygaard of Cumberland, VA, nephew Bill Nygaard of Blacksburg, VA, nephew Jim Nygaard and his wife Margaret of Buckeystin, MD, a great niece Heather Nygaard of Seattle, WA, and a great nephew Brian Nygaard of Buckeystin, MD, cousin Lee Phillips of Bonlee and the children of her late cousin Corinne Phillips Edgeworth of Rocky Mount.
