Beverly Dent Shellberg, 84, passed away on Sept. 22 at Heartfields Assisted Living in Cary after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Robert A. Shellberg as well as brothers Arthur E Dent Jr. and Robert J. Dent.

She was born on May 13, 1925 in East Hartford, CT. She was the daughter of the late Arthur E. Dent Sr. and Edna Nelson Dent. She was a loving wife and a devoted mother to five children and grandmother to four grandchildren.

She is survived by her sister Marilyn D. White of Anaheim, CA; daughter Jeanne S. Miller and her husband Bill of Apex with grandson Tyler and his wife Kelly; daughter Carol S. Grow of Apex; son Mark A. Shellberg of Kernersville, son Kenneth Shellberg and his wife Carol of Columbus, OH and Steven R. Shellberg and his wife Amy of Winston-Salem with granddaughters Leah and Sara and grandson Alec; sisters-in-law Evelyn Shellberg and Vivian Shellberg, both of Racine, WI.

Bob and Beverly were two of the original dancers with the Little German Band and enjoyed traveling to Europe to perform as well as numerous other locations.

The family expresses its deepest gratitude to the Heartfields of Cary staff for their loving care and continued support of our family. Deeply appreciated as well is the staff at Heartland Hospice for their compassion and comfort.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 3 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Rd., Cary.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Eastern NC Chapter, 400 Oberlin Road, Suite 208, Raleigh, NC 27605 or Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund c/o HCR Manor Care Foundation, PO Box 10086, Toledo, OH 43699-0086.
