Robert “Bob” Lee Cox, Jr., 87, died Sunday, Nov. 2. He was born in Perryville, KY on Jan. 13, 1921 to Hope (Robertson) and Robert Lee Cox. Bob was an accomplished athlete in high school and attended the University of Kentucky. He served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII and worked at Royal Globe Insurance for many years. Cox was also a member of Good Shepherd United Church of Christ and the Cary XYZ Club. He was a phenomenal husband and father who always kept his family first.

Cox is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mildred Blanton Cox of Cary; son Robert “Bob” Blanton Cox and his wife Janice of West Jefferson; Nan Cox Alberti and her husband Christopher of Apex; five grandchildren, Beth, Maria, Joe, Jennifer and Joyce; and three great grandchildren, Zack, Jordan and Madeline.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at the funeral home.
