The Cary Mayor's Task Force on Disability will meet from noon to 1 p.m. at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center, 119 Ambassador Loop in downtown. ALZHEIMER'S AWARENESS EVENT

The Alzheimer's Association-Eastern NC Chapter will host "Candlelight Reflections," from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the waterfall near Dorton Arena at the N.C. State Fairgrounds. This event will raise awareness of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias and the impact on individuals and caregivers. This outdoor event will be held rain or shine. VETERANS LUNCHEON

The town of Cary will honor veterans during an annual luncheon from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Herbert C. Young Community Center. For ages 18 and older. A patriotic program, catered lunch and entertainment are on the menu. Luncheon is free for veterans and $8 to all other participants. For more information, call 919-469-4081. ROPES COURSE AFTER DARK

There will be a ropes course for middle school and high school students from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. at Fred G. Bond Metro Park. The Ropes Course Challenge is a way to learn teamwork and communication. Participants will be suspended 40 feet above the ground. For more information, call 919-460-4965. VETERANS DAY PARADE

The 29th annual Veterans Day Parade, sponsored by the Wake County Veterans Council, will begin at 9:15 a.m. in downtown Raleigh. Events, including static displays, music and entertainment, will continue through the afternoon on the capitol grounds. A laying of a memorial wreath will begin the ceremony, with a flyover at 11 a.m. All organizations that would like to honor our veterans are encouraged to contact Harvey Yates at 919-926-1485. The Food Allergy Walk at Bond Park will benefit the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network to fund research and increase awareness of food allergies. Westwood Baptist Church will offer a free medical clinic for those without medical insurance from 8 a.m. until noon at 200 Westhigh St., Cary. The clinic will provide advice and medical screening for diabetes, blood pressure, prostate cancer, cholesterol, BMI and nutrition. Apex's Fall Festival and Baking Contest will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cambridge Village Retirement Community. This event will raise money for Western Wake Crisis Ministry. Academy St., Cary, there will be a Mystery Dinner and silent auction to support Prison MATCH (Mothers And Their Children) of North Carolina, a nonprofit organization that facilitates visits between children and their incarcerated mothers.
