Someone opened a window at a home on Carpenter Village Way between 5 and 10:20 p.m. July 30. It is uncertain if entry was made. No property was taken.

• It appears someone walked into an unsecured home on Honeysuckle Lane between noon and 8 p.m. July 31 and took a PlayStation 2, 25 video games and a stereo.

• A Cary woman who had listed a table for sale on a neighborhood Web site for $50 received a check for $1,550 was asked to send the excess funds and table to an address in Nevada. The check was determined to be fraudulent. The woman did not comply with the request.

• An employee at Kangaroo, 1001 S.E. Cary Parkway, received a call about 10:10 p.m. July 30 from a caller saying he was with a company that handles prepaid credit cards. The employee was asked to “test the system” with three prepaid credit cards valued at $400 each. The company that actually handles the credit cards called the store shortly thereafter saying that the store had been scammed.

• The owner of a vehicle on Ashley Brook Lane was in his home when he saw the dome light of his vehicle on and an unknown person by the driver’s-side door. The man went to the door, yelled and the person took off running.

• Someone broke out the passenger-door window of a vehicle at Sk8 Cary Skate Park, 2050 Maynard Road, between 3:04 and 3:51 p.m. July 30. A purse, wallet and driver’s license were taken. The purse and wallet were later recovered in a Dumpster behind a nearby grocery store.

• Forty CDs, $30 in cash and a stereo faceplate were taken from an unlocked vehicle at Performance Auto Body, 321 E. Durham St., between July 20 and July 30.

• Cary police have recently charged the following people with driving while impaired: Shumaila Zafar, 21, of 1119 Ralph Drive, charged about 2:18 a.m. July 31 at 604 S.W. Maynard Road; Katherine Ann Askue, 21, of 1440 Collegiate Circle Apartment 201, Raleigh, charged about 1:45 a.m. July 30 on Dillard Drive; Donna Turner Crisp, 54, of 4244 Surry Ridge Circle, Apex, charged about 1:40 p.m. July 30 on Cary Town Boulevard; Randy van der Spek, 19, of 102 Bighorn Circle, charged about 5 a.m. July 31 at 400 Queensferry Road.
