Police arrested and charged one of two suspects sought in the Sunday theft of a car radio from a Honda Civic parked outside of Cary Auto Body Specialists on East Cedar St. Aron Grandeno, 37, of 8502 Chapel Hill Road, faces one count of larceny from motor vehicle.

Police have not yet arrested a second suspect seen sitting in a Toyota Paseo at the scene of the crime, which occurred about 12:45 a.m.

A Cary man was charged with stealing a bicycle from his neighbor's home on Trappers Run Drive in the early morning hours on Saturday.

Cody Ryan Baker, 18, of 115 Trappers Run Drive, faces one count of larceny.

The victim told police that Baker had stolen a bike from her home once before.

Officers found the bicycle taken in the most recent theft behind Baker's home and returned it to its rightful owner.

On Sunday at 5:45 p.m., police responded along with fire officials to the scene of a brush fire in a wooded area beside the Cary Plaza shopping center on High House Road.

Officers said firefighters had responded to a second brush fire at the same site three hours prior.

The two fires were within 1,000 yards of one another, police said.

Apex

A counterfeit $50 bill was passed at the Walgreens at 511 W. Williams St. between 2:03 and 2:07 p.m. Sept. 26.

Someone took a license plate from a vehicle parked at 1011 Beaver Creek Commons Drive between 10 p.m. Sept. 29 and 8 a.m. Sept. 30.

A vehicle was entered at 1441 Beaver Creek Commons Drive between 2 p.m. and 4:03 p.m. Sept. 30.

A Dish Network receiver, a hand held drill, a satellite finder, $250 cash, a laptop computer and a GPS unit were taken.

Police recently charged the following people with driving while impaired: Ralph Cleveland Scott, 47, of 310 Keith St., charged about 7:01 p.m. Sept. 25 at Old Jenks Road and West Williams Street; Pauline E. Chugh, 27, of 4407-7302 Hapson Road, Morrisville, charged about 9:29 p.m. Sept. 26; David Ryan Wilson, 42, of 124 Luxon Place, Cary, charged about 1:24 a.m. Sept. 27 at 1800 Laura Duncan Road.

Fuquay-Varina

A silver 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt was taken from a home on Noconia Place between 11 p.m. Sept. 20 and 7:40 a.m. Sept. 21.

Copper wire valued at $2,500 was taken from the Carillon Assisted Living Center at 6516 Johnson Pond Road.

Police charged Wilford Earl, Peacock, 24, of 647 Angier Road, with aggravated assault at about 11:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at 601 Angier Road.

He is accused of assaulting the victim with a cane and his hands causing severe lacerations to the head.

Three mailboxes were taken from homes on Blue Ridge Lake Drive between 1 p.m. and 4:36 p.m. Sept. 25.

Holly Springs

A home on Sunset Lake Road was forcibly entered through the front door about 8:52 a.m. Sept. 23. Nothing was taken.

Police charged Weldon Burch, Jr., 54, of 6400 Mims Road, Fuquay-Varina, with obtaining property with false pretense, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of a court order, probation violation, failure to appear, and providing fictitious information to an officer at about 11:56 a.m. Sept. 24 at Sunset Lake Road and Holly Springs Road.

The arrest was made after a routine traffic stop.

Police charged Courtney Ann Tyner, 26, of 103 Cordell Place, Apex, with embezzlement about 1:30 a.m. Sept. 29 at Walmart at 7016 G.B. Alfrod Highway.

She is suspected of taking money from a cash register.
