Cary A homeowner on Cary Glen Boulevard reported to police on Aug. 21 at 2:25 p.m. that she had been the victim of a burglary.The victim told officers that someone had forced their way into her family's home through the front door.Missing from inside the home were two diamond rings worth $7,851, a $40 backpack and $40 in coins. An employee at Wachovia on High House Road contacted Cary police on Aug. 21 to report fraud.The victim, Tidewater Financing Company of Virginia Beach, had previously alerted Wachovia to two fraudulent checks written to an individual from the company's business account.The checks, totaling $1,946.48, were cashed at the Wachovia branch between Aug. 3 and Aug. 21. Cary police are investigating a case of fraud stemming from an online scam.The victim told police that she had posted an ad on craigslist.org in which she advertised a clarinet for $300.An interested individual responded to the ad and sent the victim a money order for $1900, asking her to deposit the money order and wire the remainder via Western Union. Two Raleigh men were charged on Aug. 23 in a string of thefts from cars on and near Mashpee Lane in West Cary.Zachary Kegan Williams, 18, and Jordan Gregory Keen, 18, have been charged with multiple counts of larceny from motor vehicle and larceny.Williams, of 4228 Landsburg Drive, and Keen, of 1013 Stonewater Drive, were arrested about 2 a.m. during a traffic stop on West Lake Road. Police say the men stole a variety of items including sunglasses, golf clubs and a GPS unit from six victims on Mashpee Lane and Matheson Place.At least one of the cases involved a homeowner living outside city limits; additional charges could be filed pending an investigation by the Wake County Sheriff.Staff writer Jordan Cooke
