A resident on Myrtle Oak Drive told Cary police on Aug. 10 that he had been the victim of fraud. Police say the man was checking his online bank account with Wachovia when he noticed $135 missing from the account. A series of charges were made on the victim's debit card on the Web site worldofwarcraft.com, according to police reports.

On Aug. 13 at 8:05 a.m., police arrested Anthony Lampuri, 31, of 111 E. Camden Forest Circle, on charges of damaging property, assault and breaking and entering. Officers say Lampuri attempted to forcibly enter the home where he formerly lived with his estranged wife. Lampuri reportedly became angry when his wife wouldn't let him in. The incident stemmed from a previous argument. Lampuri paid his wife a visit to confront her again, police say. Lampuri's brother-in-law received minor injuries when Lampuri kicked in the back door and struck him.

Police in Cary are investigating the Aug. 12 theft of a woman's purse and various electronics. The items, valued at more than $1,000, were stolen from the victim's car, which was parked outside her home in the Lochmere subdivision. The woman discovered that the items were missing after returning from a brief visit to the Lochmere Swim Club between 9:30 and 11:15 p.m, according to police.

A Cary man contacted police to report that he had fallen victim to an online scam through eBay between Aug. 3 and Aug. 13. The 44-year-old man told officers he made a wire transfer in the amount of $4,600 to a woman in Arizona. The woman reportedly had agreed to sell the victim a 2007 Acura in exchange for the money, but instead disappeared after the victim sent her the funds.

Cary police are investigating the theft of a woman's purse, school books and other items worth a total of $1,820. They were taken from an unlocked car parked outside the victim's home on Whiteberry Drive. The theft occurred between 8 p.m. on Aug. 12 and 7:50 a.m. on Aug. 13.
