Police in Cary are investigating the attempted burglary of a home on Aridith Court. A friend of the victim, who was out of the country at the time of the incident, reported the crime. Officers said the would-be burglar damaged the front door but did not appear to have gained entry into the house. An employee of Hampton Inn on Asheville Avenue called police about 5 a.m. July 22 after discovering that someone had stolen $262 from a cash register at the hotel. Police said the clerk was delivering receipts to various rooms at the time of the theft. One thousand dollars in cash was taken sometime between 9 p.m. July 25 and 1:06 a.m. July 26 from Alexias Bridal Boutique on Darrington Drive. Also, the front doors of that business and a neighboring store, Itsybitsy Baby Spa, were shattered. On July 25 at 3:55 a.m., a resident of East Johnson Street called police after spotting an unknown male walking nude in the street. Officers said the man was wearing sneakers and carrying a grocery bag. A homeowner on Franklin Chase Drive reported to police that someone had stolen his $2,600 bicycle between 8 p.m. July 23 and 6:30 a.m. July 24. There are no suspects in the theft. More than $26,000 in personal property, including a 2010 Hyundai Sonata valued at $18,000, was stolen between 1 and 5:30 a.m. July 24 from two neighboring townhomes on Maynard Summit Way. Police said both townhomes were occupied at the time of the burglaries but added that none of the residents were aware of the crimes at the time they occurred. Also missing from the townhomes were computers, cash and a GPS unit, among other items. Cary police are investigating the theft of more than $18,000 in power and hand tools from a utility trailer at a construction site on Alston Avenue. The theft reportedly occurred between 8 p.m July 21 and 7 a.m. July 22. Officers have no suspects in the theft.
