• On April 27, an assistant manager at Pretzel Twister in the Cary Towne Center mall called police after discovering that someone had forced open a back door to the business and stole a cash till containing about $400, causing about $200 in damage to the cash register in the process. The suspect was captured on a surveillance video and was described by police as a black male between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-2 and weighing between 180 and 200 pounds. The man is bald and was seen wearing a red T-shirt, black pants and black shoes.

• A Connecticut woman contacted Cary police after finding that someone used her 85-year-old brother’s name and personal information and an address on Walnut Street to open a credit account with Credit One. The unknown suspect used a fraudulently obtained Visa card to make purchases totaling $886 between Dec. 16, 2007 and April 28, 2009.

• On April 27 at 4:40 p.m., police charged a 17-year-old male with two counts of motor vehicle theft. The teen had fled from police on April 25 after police discovered he was driving a stolen Chevy pickup truck on Escher Lane. Two days later, the same officer was on patrol near the Triangle Aquatics Center about 4:17 a.m. when he passed another stolen vehicle containing four people, including the teen who had previously escaped.

• Police have a possible suspect in the April 29 theft of oxycontin and endocet from the home of a woman on Cricketgrass Drive. Officers said the male suspect had access to the victim’s house.

• An Onslow County man reported to Cary police on April 23 that he had been the victim of fraud. An unidentified suspect in the case used the victim’s inactive credit card and an address near downtown Cary to purchase a Royal Caribbean cruise.

• Two rings valued at a combined total of $3,700 were reported stolen April 29 from a home on War Admiral Court. Police said the male victim is acquainted with the suspect in the case.

• Cary police are investigating a 20-year-old woman’s report that she was sexually assaulted April 30 while receiving a massage at Cary Massage Therapy on Southeast Maynard Road. The victim said a masseur touched her in an inappropriate manner during an appointment.

• Nine rolls of copper wire were taken between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. April 29 from a construction trailer parked outside Waltonwood Assisted Living on Southeast Cary Parkway. Police estimated the stolen property to be worth more than $5,100.

• An investigation is currently under way by Cary police in regards to the possible sexual assault of a 19-year-old female by her boyfriend. The incident occurred between 12:30 p.m. April 28 and 1 p.m. April 29.

• Police are investigating the possible embezzlement of about $675 from Sweet & Sassy in the Cary Towne Center mall sometime between noon March 31 and noon April 27. The money was contained in several deposit bags.

Morrisville
• On April 20 at 9:15 p.m., police responded to Wendy’s, 2007 N.W. Cary Parkway, in regards to a call about a man who had accidentally shot himself in the left hand and a second time in the leg while waiting in the restaurant’s drive-thru line. The victim, Jason Wadsworth of Cary, told police he was trying to put the gun in the backseat of his car when the gun fired but also said he thought the chamber was empty, leading police to believe he might have been playing with the gun when he was injured. A nurse also present at the scene said she heard a loud pop and then saw Wadsworth yelling that he had been shot. Wadsworth was transported to WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh and later released. • A New Jersey woman and a Raleigh man both were charged April 8 on charges relating to prostitution. The woman, 27-year-old Nancy Nash of Hamilton, N.J., was caught after a Morrisville officer responded to an ad she posted on Craigslist and met her at the Extended Stay America on Slater Road. Nash was charged with maintaining a room for the purpose of prostitution. The man, Gene Radcliffe, also 27, of 6511 Golden Lantern Court in Raleigh, was arrested for soliciting sex after responding to the same ad and meeting with the woman in her hotel room while police were still on the scene.
