• A refrigerator valued at $851 was taken from a home under construction on River Song Place sometime between 4 p.m. March 24 and 7:09 a.m. April 21.• Police are investigating the theft of nearly $6,000 in power and hand tools and other equipment from a truck and an attached utility trailer parked on Doctrine Way. The theft occurred sometime between 4 p.m. April 20 and 8:28 a.m. April 21.• Someone used a pry tool to try to break into a vending machine outside Food Lion on Jones Franklin Road between 9 p.m. April 20 and 6:30 a.m. April 21. The would-be thief caused about $400 in damages to the machine.• On April 21 at 2:30 p.m., police arrested Williams Kenneth Hawkins, 38, of Larson Drive in Raleigh and charged him with two counts of forgery. Details of the circumstances leading to his arrest were not immediately available.• A refrigerator, a washing machine and a clothes dryer, valued at a combined $2,500, were taken during a burglary at a home under construction on Hornchurch Loop. The incident occurred between 2 p.m. April 22 and 8:30 a.m. April 23. The burglar also caused about $500 in damage to the home’s wood floors.• Cary police are still investigating a possible case of fraud in which a 40-year-old Cary man alleges his estranged wife stole more than $47,000 from him between Jan. 1, 2006 and April 22, 2009. Officers said the couple is in the midst of a difficult divorce and suspect the accusations could be part of their civil dispute.• An employee of Avante Physical Therapy on S.W. Cary Parkway reported to police that her $2,500 wedding ring was stolen from her desk between 6 p.m. April 21 and 11 a.m. April 22. The victim said she removed the ring because of therapy sessions with her patients and went home without retrieving it. When she returned to work the next morning, the ring was gone.• On April 20 at 9:30 a.m., police cited and released a 17-year-old student at Green Hope High for possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia. An officer found a single marijuana cigarette in the student’s car.• Police charged a Virginia man on April 25 with burglary after he walked through a Cary man’s back door asking for a friend. Officers said Eric Jackson Gilmore, 24, of Arlington, Va., was suspected of being under the influence of either alcohol or drugs at the time. Gilmore had allegedly been behaving erratically after attending and all-day music festival.• At least two men are being sought in connection with the late-night robbery of two female employees working at Pepe African Hair Braiding on Chapel Hill Road. Police said the women walked outside at 11:50 p.m. April 26 after closing the store. The suspects displayed a switchblade knife and demanded money. They stole one woman’s purse and money from the other victim before fleeing on foot.• A homeowner on Red Grape Drive reported to police the theft of a television, jewelry and other personal property valued at more than $2,800. The theft occurred on April 24 between 8:45 a.m. and 5:40 p.m.• Police are searching for two teens in connection with a string of thefts from cars parked on Mont de Sion Drive on April 24. Officers said a homeowner witnessed one of the suspects rummaging through his car and unsuccessfully tried to catch him. At least six cars were broken into. Taken from the cars was about $750 in property, including a leather coat, CDs and books.
