• On March 18 at 2:27 a.m., Cary police arrested William Anthony Cheatham, 27, of 705 Centennial Parkway, Raleigh, and served him with warrants from the Raleigh police department for shoplifting and an unspecified traffic offense.• A Raleigh man was charged at noon March 17 with aiding and abetting the Dec. 12 robbery of a Dollar General store on N.E. Maynard Road. Investigators think George Danial Alston, 20, of 1405 Princess Anne Road, Raleigh, provided some manner of assistance to another suspect still at large who entered the store and brandished a knife, ordering an employee in the store’s office to give him an undisclosed amount of money. Police would not disclose whether they think Alston was also at the scene of the crime.• Cary police are investigating a burglary in which someone forcibly entered a business on Grande Heights Drive sometime between 8 p.m. March 15 and 7:50 p.m. March 17. An employee of the business, which was closed March 16, said he realized upon completing a customer’s transaction the morning of March 17 that $250 was missing from a cash register. Police said the unknown suspect entered through a back door.• On March 19 at 4:10 p.m., Cary police arrested and charged Poalea Rodriguez, 21, of Queens, N.Y., with larceny and simple physical assault. Officers said a loss prevention worker at Victoria’s Secret at Cary Towne Center mall caught Rodriguez attempting to conceal 52 bottles of perfume valued at more than $2,400. When she tried to leave the store, the employee stopped her. Rodriguez then bit the worker in a failed attempt to flee.• Someone stole a television valued at $1,000 from a home on Wellington Ridge Loop between 1 and 10 a.m. March 18.• Cary police charged an Apex teen March 18 with arson for setting fire to a trash can inside a boy’s restroom at Middle Creek High School. The fire only damaged the trash can but filled the school with an acrid smell.• An employee of Barrington Homes reported to police that someone stole 51 bundles of roofing shingles and three boxes of roofing caps from a new house under construction on Mountain Maple Drive. The theft occurred between 9 p.m. March 19 and 7 a.m. March 20.• Cary police are investigating a burglary in which someone entered the fitness center at the Brampton Woods clubhouse on Brampton Lane and stole a television valued at $1,000. There were no signs of forced entry.• A Cary woman reported to police on March 18 that someone had stolen more than $15,000 in jewelry from her apartment on Zumbach Way. The woman said she last saw the jewelry on Jan. 1.
