• Cary police are investigating the forcible rape of a woman. The incident allegedly occurred Aug. 11 but was not reported until last month. The victim said she was smoking outside her apartment when a man named “Ike” approached displaying a gun. The suspect told her not to move, then grabbed and choked her, causing her to pass out. The victim did not recall being raped but soon after found out she was pregnant.

• On March 24, someone stole $600 worth of tools and a $100 toolbox from a trailer parked outside a home on Laughridge Drive. The victim said he had gone to the residence to eat lunch.

• Police are searching for a woman suspected of stealing $600 cash from a safe at Palm Beach Tan sometime between 11:19 p.m. March 24 and 7 a.m. March 25.

• On March 28 between 4 a.m. and 5:46 a.m., someone set fire to six buses outside the Triangle Transit Authority station on Nelson Road. The buses were valued at a combined total of more than $1 million. Police declined to disclose further details, citing an ongoing investigation.

• Someone damaged $2,600 worth of electrical wiring being stored at a new home under construction on Yellowfield Drive. Police think the vandals cut into the electrical wiring in an unsuccessful attempt to search for copper.

• Police have charged a Cary man with forging his ex-wife’s signature on a child support check. Solomon Ali, 32, had been living with his ex-wife until his arrest on March 28. Officers said Ali confessed to his ex-wife that he had tried to forge her signature on the $3,927 check, which she had attempted to cash that day at the bank.

• A series of thefts from vehicles in Cary on March 27 has police searching for a possible suspect. The man is described as a black male between ages 40 and 55, about 6 feet tall and bald and wearing a dark leather coat, white shirt and green cargo pants. About a dozen cars were targeted in such locations as On the Border and Cary Towne Center, and LexisNexis on Regency Parkway. Several thousand dollars worth of electronics, including GPS devices, laptops and digital cameras, were taken along with wallets and purses. All of the break-ins occurred between 5 and 8 p.m.
