The race to represent one of Morrisville's larger and more densely populated districts just got a little tighter.
Candidates James Klopovic and Catherine Willis, have dropped out of the race to take the District 4 seat from Mike Snyder, who is not seeking re-election this year.
Willis, a member of Morrisville's planning and zoning board, said she felt better suited to continue working in her current role. Klopovic declined to comment on his decision, but didn't rule out a future campaign.
That leaves two contenders -- small business owner Margaret Broadwell and banking executive Creighton Blackwell -- who cite fiscal management and traffic congestion as two of their chief concerns. Which one will have a hand in shaping town policy will be decided by voters on Nov. 3.
"I've told him that if I wasn't in the same race with him, I would likely support him," Broadwell, 60, said. "But I want to win this one."
Blackwell, 36, says he's a solid contender who can add a fresh. "I might be new to this political piece of things," he said. "But I'm in the people business."
