ALZHEIMER'S AWARENESS EVENT

The Alzheimer's Association-Eastern NC Chapter will host "Candlelight Reflections," from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the waterfall near Dorton Arena at the N.C. State Fairgrounds. This event will raise awareness of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias and the impact on individuals and caregivers. This outdoor event will be held rain or shine. VETERANS LUNCHEON

Join the Town of Cary as it honors all veterans during the annual luncheon 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Herbert C. Young Community Center. For ages 18 and older. A patriotic program, catered lunch and entertainment are all on the menu. Luncheon is free for veterans and $8 to all other participants. For more information call 919-469-4081. ROPES COURSE AFTER DARK

There will be a ropes course for middle school and high school aged students on Nov. 6, from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. at Fred G. Bond Metro Park. Experience the thrill of being suspended 40 feet above the ground at night. The Ropes Course Challenge is a great way to learn teamwork and communication. Come experience the fun and excitement of the challenging course under the cover of the moon and stars. For more information call 919-460-4965. Cost is $30 for residents and $39 for non-residents.

VETERANS DAY PARADE

The 29th annual Veterans Day Parade, sponsored by the Wake County Veterans Council, will begin at 9:15 a.m. in downtown Raleigh. Events, including static displays, music and entertainment, will continue through the afternoon on the capitol grounds. A laying of a memorial wreath will begin the ceremony, with a flyover at 11 a.m. All organizations that would like to honor veterans are encouraged to contact Harvey Yates at 919-926-1485. FOOD ALLERGY WALK

The Food Allergy Walk at Bond Park will benefit the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network to fund research and increase awareness of food allergies. This is the first walk in the Raleigh area. There will be activities for the whole family, allergy-friendly foods, and lots more. Anyone can register to walk, or make a donation at foodallergywalk.org. ORIGAMI AT THE LIBRARY

At 2:30 p.m. there will be an origami craft program for tweens and teens aged 10-18, at Cary Community Library, 310 S. Academy St., Cary. Class is limited to 15 teens; preregistration is required. Call 919-460-3350 to sign up. MARVELOUS MUSIC SERIES

The series kicks off with the Hunt Family at 7:30 p.m. at the Herb Young Community Center. The Hunt Family performs Celtic, bluegrass, inspirational and popular tunes. Clint and Sandy, along with their seven talented children, Jessica, Jennifer, Joshua, Jonathan, Jordan, Justin and Jamison, have released four albums and have won numerous awards in fiddle, Irish dance and singing contests. Westwood Baptist Church will offer a free medical clinic for those without health insurance from 8 a.m. until noon at the church, 200 Westhigh St., Cary. The clinic will provide advice and medical screening for diabetes, blood pressure, prostate cancer, cholesterol, BMI and nutrition. Go to the lower level of the parking lot to the right of the church building to sign in. Patients will be seen on a first come, first served basis. Apex's Fall Festival and Baking Contest will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cambridge Village Retirement Community. The event will raise money for Western Wake Crisis Ministry. A $5 ticket buys three slices of cake or pie to sample and judge. Cash prizes will be awarded for each category: $25, first prize; $15, second prize and $10, third prize. Performers include the Peak City Singers, the Apex UMC Choir, Tri Force and Super Skipper, Premiere Dance School and magic by Charles Meacomes. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Cary First United Methodist Church, 117 N. Academy St., Cary, there will be a mystery dinner and silent auction to support Prison MATCH (Mothers And Their Children) of North Carolina, a nonprofit organization that facilitates visits between children and their incarcerated mothers. The $25 ticket price buys dinner and entertainment at the Salty Dog Inn. A night of turmoil, murder and triumph will transpire as pirates celebrate their homecoming. Learn Learn to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies and first aid from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at American Red Cross, 3700 Regency Parkway in Cary. The cost is $58.
