The Cary Community Foundation received 40 applications for grant awards totaling $60,000. The 40 applicants are nonprofit organizations that focus their community service work to benefit Cary residents in one of the following areas: children and families, community development, environment and cultural arts. Awards
will be announced in November with requests being granted in the $1,000 to $5,000 range.Last year the Cary Community Foundation distributed $50,000 in grant awards to 21 worthy nonprofit organizations that serve the Cary community. These awards will be an annual event and just as this year’s funds have increased by $10,000, the Cary Community Foundation expects the amount of funds available to increase over time.“I am excited that we’ve received so many applications from our
nonprofit community,” said foundation President Sheila Ogle. “Their
interest and enthusiasm was evident by their attendance at our grant
workshops that were held in July. These organizations are so passionate
about their causes and are all very deserving. We are delighted to have
the ability to provide grant funds to them as they continue their
outstanding work.”The Cary Community Foundation was created in 2005 by Cary residents and
businesses to increase opportunities for philanthropy among those living
and working in Cary. Over time, the CCF will build a body of hundreds of funds, established through the passion and commitment of the community. The CCF operates under the umbrella of the N.C. Community Foundation, which has more than $110 million in permanent assets from which grants are
made.To make a donation or for more information visit carycommunityfoundation.org.
