The town of Cary unveiled a redesigned Web site last week, marking the fifth such undertaking since the town established an online presence 12 years ago.
It's the first time the town has taken on an entire redesign of every page of the town's Web site since its launch in 1997, according to the town.
"The new design better meets our citizens' expectations for a Web site that's attractive, informative, easy to use and up-to-date in both content and style," Susan Moran, Cary's public information officer, said in a statement.
Among the changes to the site are drop-down menus and a new services section, where visitors can search and apply for jobs and pay utility bills.
Other features included on the revamped home page include a link to Cary's e-mail listserv and an updated meeting calendar.
The site also includes an expanded news section with more links to the town's video files, weekly public notices, monthly "Bud" newsletter, and Cary TV 11 programming line-up. The town also created a "sunshine" section that makes the town's public records, such as meeting agendas and minutes, easier to obtain.
Preparation for the design overhaul began in 2006, according to the town.
A beta version of the new Web site was released internally in August.
Cary officially launched the new site on Sept. 27.
