West Regional library honors anniversary West Regional Library in Cary is honoring its second anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 14, from 1:30-4 p.m. by hosting an art dedication and international celebration.Festivities begin with the dedication of recently installed sculptures in the library courtyard designed by award-winning artist Thomas Sayre as well as the paintings of former Cary resident Deborah Haeffele. The art dedication will be followed by a variety of live performances and activities for all ages in honor of the diversity of our community.The sculptures were funded by a grant from Cary Visual Art as well as a donation from Carpenter Village Developers, Chase Properties, Mike Hunter and Kyle Ward. In addition, children’s literature inspired paintings by Haeffele that now grace the walls of the community room and the children’s area of the library.Members of the Triangle Area Chinese American Society will perform historical Chinese dances including the lion dance, followed by African storyteller and drummer Braima Moiwai. Later in the afternoon students from Cary’s United Shotokan Karate will demonstrate basic karate movements.A variety of crafts and other hands-on activities will take place at different locations in the library throughout the event.
