APEX - The Town Council will host a special meeting on Monday to discuss the biggest mixed-use development project the town has ever considered.

The project, Veridea, would be located off N.C. 55 and U.S. 1 and encompass 1,015 acres. Plans call for up to 15 million square feet in offices, shops and manufacturing space and 8,000 new homes. If fully realized, it could bring 20,000 new residents and more than double the town's tax base.

The work session comes after several months of anticipating how the monster project may stretch current town ordinances.

It's the first of several expected to go on for months before the town is ready to give the green light to Lookout Ventures, the Zebulon company pitching the plan.

The meeting is at 5:30 p.m. at Apex Town Hall, 73 Hunter St. For more information, visit apexnc.org.
