A new teen author in the Triangle, Dakota Lee, will share her new book, her barn and her horse Sonny-D in a book signing and pig picking celebration at Vintage Stables, 6429 Old Jenks Road in Apex on Saturday, March 28, from 1-4 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. Dakota will be filming a live episode of HorsetalkWithDakota.com in the barn at Vintage Stables from 2-2:20 p.m.

Her book, “Flash of Freedom,” will be on sale and Dakota will sign books at the event. The book is an action adventure story of three girls, a horse thief and a wild horse named Freedom. Among the action, Dakota writes of the struggles of being a teen, from a teen’s perspective. Dakota is a seventh-grader at Salem Middle School in Apex.

The fifth-grade class at Turner Creek Elementary used “Flash of Freedom” in their reading curriculum. “Dakota is a talented student and a great inspiration to her peers,” said teacher Ann Barksdale.

“Flash of Freedom” is available at BarnesandNoble.com and Amazon.com.
