• Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic announced the opening of their after-hours clinic. • WakeMed Health & Hospitals announced Gail Sturtevant as executive director of nursing for WakeMed Cary Hospital. Sturtevant will work with David Coulter, senior vice president and administrator and Mary Ann Wilcox, chief nursing officer, to assure overall nursing quality at the hospital. Sturtevant holds a master’s of science in nursing from Duke University and a bachelor of science from the University of South Carolina at Columbia. She currently serves as the director of operations for the Heart Center on the WakeMed Raleigh campus and will transition into her new role on Aug. 10.

• MicroMass Communications, a healthcare marketing firm in Cary, hired Richard Patterson as vice president and group account director. Patterson holds a master of science degree in biological chemistry and human genetics from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. He has almost 30 years of healthcare marketing experience.
