• Carolina Gold Buyers opened at Cary Towne Center Mall at 1105 Walnut St. in Cary.

The affiliate of Baileys Fine Jewelry will buy gold, silver and platinum from directly from customers bringing in unwanted jewelry. Employees will test and weigh items for their fair market value in front of the customers, who will receive a check or store credit on the spot.

• Dr. Mrinalini Kodumagulla opened Wake Family Practice at 1000 Darrington Dr., Suite 104 in Cary on May 27.

The practice specializes in women’s health, pediatrics, physicals, immunizations, acute care, problem-oriented diagnosis and chronic disease management.

Kodumagulla relocated from India and became a visiting associate in internal medicine at Duke University Medical Center. She received her post-graduate training at St. Vincent’s Mercy Medical Center in Ohio and later moved back to Cary.

• Walmart opened at 1001 Shiloh Glenn Dr. in Morrisville on June 17.

The superstore will employ about 750 associates, including 500 new positions. They’ll had a ribbon-cutting ceremony 7:30 a.m. and opened for business at 8 a.m.

• Media Research Planning and Placement, Inc., a media company in Cary, announced they added interactive services for long-time client 123NC.com, a Web site that provides criminal records and background checks on people in North Carolina.

The services are available through MRPP’s new interactive department, which offers planning and research through search engine, e-mail and mobile marketing, display advertising and promotional tie-ins.

• The North Carolina Association of Staffing Professionals honored a mother and daughter from Cary-based Quality Staffing Specialists at their annual meeting held recently in Wilmington.

Phyllis Eller-Moffet, CEO and Kara Bertoncino, co-owner and vice president of Quality Staffing, were both given awards. Eller-Moffet was inducted into NCASP’s “Hall of Fame” and her daughter, Bertoncino, was named the association’s “Member of the Year.”
