• In celebration of National Salad Month in May, Tossed restaurant in Morrisville is holding a salad contest.

Participants can submit original, unpublished recipes throughout May to the restaurant at 4113-17 Davis Drive or online at tossed.com. Each entry should include one lettuce option, up to nine “toss-ins” and one Tossed dressing.

The winners will be chosen by Tossed executives, evaluating submissions on overall flavor, creativity and visual appeal. The national grand prize winner will be notified by June 15 and get a $100 gift card, a gift basket and his or her salad featured at nationwide Tossed locations in July.

Founded in 1998 in New York City, Tossed is an upscale, fast casual restaurant that focuses on green-leaf salads tossed to order. They also feature sandwiches, melts, crepes, soups, smoothies and desserts.

• Mulberry Tree Consulting named Carlene Cearley of Cary the new director of marketing for the company. Cearley brings a diverse background, including experience in government, corporate computer environments and education. Cearley is also a locations manager and actor for the North Carolina Film Industry.
