The work of local photographer Eric Saunders is featured this month at Cary Gallery of Artists. The show runs through Nov. 21 at 200 S. Academy St. in Cary's Ashworth Village.
Saunders, who lives outside Chapel Hill, became interested in photography in grade school, but then his interest turned to classical piano.
After pursuing a master's degree in music, Saunders worked as a software engineer. His travel experiences inspired him to return to his love of photography.
"At first, my inspiration in photography was the 'outdoor calendar' type of picture, but with experience I have tried to make my pictures artistically interesting, and more in line with the experience of good performances of my favorite music," Saunders writes on the gallery's Web site. "Along with that, I continue to learn about photographic technique, in order to communicate my artistic ideas effectively."
Saunders' work has been accepted for numerous juried shows. He is a member of area arts organizations and has won several awards for his photography.
