107-year-old celebrates another milestone
Maude Griffis celebrates an early 107th birthday with friends and congregation at Glenaire living facility in Cary. Rev. Rudolph Britton, right of Springfield Baptist church in Raleigh wishes Maude Griffis a happy birthday. Griffis turns 107 on Saturday.

Maude Griffis celebrated her 107th birthday a day early with friends and her congregation at the Glenaire living facility in Cary.

Griffis is the oldest resident that has ever lived at the retirement facility, which has two other seniors over 100 years old.

Among her guests was her congregation from Springfield Baptist church in Raleigh who gave her cards and a poinsettia and sang her favorite song to her, "Amazing Grace."
