The Footnotes Tap Ensemble announces Classic Tap Day Workshop in Cary. Members of the ensemble will teach tap classes at $10 a class or three for $25.

Classes will be held at the Step Ahead Dance Studio at 166 East Cedar St. in Cary from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 3. Information: 462-0101 or www.footnotestapensemble.org.

Spring classes in Apex

The Apex Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources department is offering a variety of classes and workshops this spring. To see a full listing visit www.apexnc.org/depts/parks/index.cfm for a program guide.

A few examples:

• Preschool Painters. Ages 2 through 4. Child with parent is exposed to paint, paintbrushes, sponge painting and finger painting. Bring a smock or dress appropriately. Different project each class with limited instruction. $2 supply fee to be paid to instructor on first day of class. Limited to 12 participants. Tuesdays, March 6 through 20, 10 to 10:45 a.m. or Tuesday, March 6 through 20 from 4:30 to 5:05 p.m.

• Daddy & Me Preschool Painting. Ages 2 through 4. Daddy and child spend quality time while using paints, brushes, sponges and fingers! Bring a smock or dress appropriately. Different project each class. $2 supply fee to be paid to instructor on first day of class. Limited to 12 participants. Tuesday, March 6 through 20 from 5:20 to 5:55 p.m.

• American Tribal Belly Dance for seniors. Ages 55 plus. Do you want to learn how to belly dance while having fun and getting some exercise? Class will focus on the basic moves needed to dance “Tribal Fusion” belly dance. Dawn Ruckert instructs. Limited to 10 participants. Class incorporates moves from all over the world including Egypt, Turkey, India and more. Fees: $12 for residents, $17 for nonresidents for five classes. Wednesdays, March 7 through April 4 from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m.

Actors wanted

Hope Community Church is holding open auditions for their adult drama team on Sunday, March 11, at 12:30 p.m. Interested auditioners should visit Hope’s Web site at www.gethope.net for complete audition info. Hope is located at 821 Buck Jones Road in Raleigh, near the Cary Crossroads and South Hills Mall shopping centers. Strong acting talent and communication skills needed.
