CARY — Police are asking for the public's help to find a masked robber man who jumped a counter at the First Citizens Bank branch on Kildare Farm Road on Tuesday and was spotted a short time before outside a second bank.
The man escaped from the bank with an undisclosed amount of money and was believed to have left the area in a green Chevrolet Z-71 pickup truck.
A statement from police did not say if the man was armed or claimed to have a weapon.
Police said the man was white, about 6 feet tall and wore a hooded gray sweatshirt with arm stripes, gloves, a bandana over his face and sunglasses.
The robbery happened shortly after 4:30 p.m. at the bank at 1825 Kildare Farm Road.
About 10 minutes earlier, workers at a First Fidelity Bank branch on Southwest Cary Parkway reported seeing a man who fit the description, and they locked the bank doors to keep the man out.
Police asked that anyone who was in the area at the time the robbery or who may have information related to the crime to call them at 919-469-4012 or Cary Crime Stoppers at 919-460-4636.
Crime Stoppers pays up to $2,500 for information resulting in the arrest or indictment of those responsible for committing certain types of crimes, and all calls will be kept confidential if the caller requests it.
In addition, the North Carolina Bankers Association has a reward program for information leading to the arrest and indictment of anyone involved in a bank robbery.
