Cary athlete competes in Special Olympics

Ashley Parrish of Cary was chosen to participate in the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games in New Jersey in June. Parrish will compete in shot put, long jump, 100-meter run and a relay.

Cary Boy Scouts earn Eagle Scout

Jason Sifinski of Cary, a member of Boy Scout Troop 244, earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Boy Scouting. He led a group of scouts and adults to build raised garden beds at Reedy Creek Elementary School for students to grow flowers and vegetables.

Matthew Singer of Cary, a member of Boy Scout Troop 216 led by Brian Brezina, earned the rank of Eagle Scout in February. He led a group of scouts and adult volunteers to build five bluebird houses at Weatherstone Elementary School, part of a five-year educational landscape plan. He is a junior at Green Hope High School and the son of Robert and Brenda Singer.
