Apex violinist participates in summer music program

Nishanth Shah of Apex was chosen to participate in the National Symphony Orchestra 2014 Summer Music Institute at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Shah will participate in training, including coaching by National Symphony members, private lessons, classes, seminars, a competition and performances in the center’s concerts in June and July.

Cary Girl Scout earns Gold Award

Yelim Lee of Cary, a student at Raleigh Charter High School, earned the Gold Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouting. Lee designed an expressive, stress-relieving art program for seriously ill or injured children being served by the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill. She is a member of Girl Scout Troop 1841 led by Roxanne Manuel and Debi Willis. She is the daughter of Dr. Hyoung Ik Lee and Sung Sook Kwak.
