Holly Grove Elementary School will host its third annual Memorial Day Community Program at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 23, at 1451 Avent Ferry Road, Holly Springs. Students and the community will learn about duty, honor and service. Apex student earns perfect ACT score

Riley Sassaman of Apex, a junior at Apex High School, earned a perfect score on the ACT college-entrance exam. Riley is the son of Stephen and Denise Sassaman.

Earth Day at Lincoln Heights Elementary

Jagathi Kamalakanthan and Rohan Mohammed of the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ soil testing lab visited third-grade students at Lincoln Heights Elementary School in Fuquay-Varina on Earth Day in April. Kamalakanthan and Mohammed gave demonstrations and helped students participate in experiments.

Green Hope artists compete

Michelle Lam of Green Hope High School won third place in the N.C. Museum of Art’s Teens Inspired competition. To see her entry, go to bit.ly/1iSzH4Q.

Katherine Dorn and Bria Goeller won awards in a Fine Arts League of Cary art show on May 4. Katherine won an honorable mention, and Bria won second place.

Cary Academy graduation

Chancellor Carol Folt of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will speak at Cary Academy’s graduation ceremony at 3 p.m. Friday, May 23, in the school’s SEA building, 1500 N. Harrison Ave., Cary.

Senior Awards Ceremony
