Cary Cub Scouts earn Arrow of Light

Boys from Cary earned the Arrow of Light, the highest achievement in Cub Scouts. After earning their awards, the boys joined Boy Scout Troop 202 of Cary. The scouts are Eric Firlet, Ivan Fuentes, Tom Higgins, Mitchell Huggins, Kyle Junkin, Tristen Kuhn, Nicholas Lucovsky, Brendan Lynch, Cormac Lynch, Jake McCarthy Adams, Austen Adler and James Vinesett.

Cary resident earns community service award

Meg Segal of Cary earned the Community Service Award of the Yates Mill Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution on April 8. Segal volunteered for the USO at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport for more than 1,800 hours over the past seven years. She also volunteers for the Community Advisory Board of the Raleigh Army Recruiting Company, the Reserve Officers Association, Military Officers Association of America and the North Carolina Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

Cary resident is re-elected department commander

Dennis C. St. Andrew of Cary was re-elected as North Carolina Department Commander of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War on April 12 in New Bern. St. Andrew, the great-grandson of Pvt. Charles St. Andrews of the 142nd N.Y. Volunteer Infantry Regiment of the Union Army, is a Life Member of the Sons of Union Veterans.
