Virginia Whitley Edwards, 97, passed away on Sunday, March 9th, 2014.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15th, at 1:00 pm at First Christian Church, 1900 West Market Street, Greensboro, NC, with Rev. Lee Hull Moses officiating.

Burial will be at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 16th, at Red Oak Cemetery in Red Oak, NC, with Rev. Phil Jones officiating.

Mrs. Edwards was born in Nash County, NC. She was a long time member of First Christian Church in Greensboro. She worked part-time as a bookkeeper for Coleman’s Tobacco Warehouse in Greensboro for many years and was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra “Sandy” Edwards Wenger, of Cary, NC., and her son, Alex Edwards, and wife, Mary Ann, of Greensboro; 5 grandchildren: Tracy Wenger Muhlbauer and husband, Jeff, of Cary, NC, Beth Wenger Royall and husband, Will, of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and Robert Edwards, Michael Edwards and Andrew Edwards of Greensboro; 3 great-grandchildren: Aiden Royall of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Virginia Muhlbauer and Gabby Muhlbauer of Cary, NC.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C. B. Edwards and her sister, Marie Pitt Wiggins.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 14th, from 6 - 8 pm at Forbis And Dick Funeral Home, 1118 North Elm Street, Greensboro, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to First Christian Church, 1900 West Market Street, Greensboro, NC 27403.

The family wishes to thank everyone at Blumenthal Jewish Nursing and Rehabilitation and the team from Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro for their loving care and support.
