Al Cinequepalma: Foolish efforts in downtown Cary

Foolish downtown efforts

It is foolish to spend millions of dollars on downtown Cary. The new hotel, the theater and the two worst traffic circles in the world may appear to the town to be a start toward making the area a big tourist attraction, but with the narrow streets and lack of parking, it seems ridiculous to me.

What is next, a six-level parking deck?

Cary’s attraction has always been that it is a quaint little town. It is never going to be a city like Raleigh or Charlotte. There is an old adage, “You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.”

I won’t go into “The Bridge On the River Kwai,” er, I mean the railroad tracks, or the monstrosity arising in the northeast quadrant of Davis Drive and High House Road.
